The fears have been confirmed. The three women of the punk-band “Pussy Riot” were sentenced to two years in prison. The court found the band members guilty of “religious hooliganism” after an unauthorised performance in Moscow’s main cathedral, singing a “punk prayer” pleading the Virgin Mary to save Russia from Vladimir Putin. On Friday and Saturday sympathizers around the world demonstrated against the conviction. In Russia many opposition members were arrested, including the former chess world champion Gari Kasparov. After the proclamation of sentence, the women smiled shortly. Maybe the sign to the world: we are not giving up! Support Pussy Riot on Amnesty International.
